My ER kit finally arrive this morning. It had been a while since I stitched a non-HAED. I thought of buying this kit for a while and after all the encouragement and bad influence from my friends ;0), I finally ordered this kit.
I am replacing the fabric from the kit with my own. I did a floss toss on 2 Silkweaver fabrics. I do love this blue but was a bit worried that the light blue floss will be lost in this blue/light purple hand dyed. In real life, it looks nice but on the photo, it seems that the light blue is drowned into the blues.
So, I did another floss toss, seems like this fabric and floss look much better together. What do you think?
Angel of Spring. This is where I stopped yesterday morning. I am only stitching a bit on her every now and then. I didn't even touch her during our Easter holidays. She will be put away till my current project is finished.
I hope everyone had a great Easter. We had a long Easter holiday and I was busy running around getting the gifts for Egg Hunting ready. I went shopping with DD in Germany too and had guests dropping by. DD stayed overnight at her grandparents' house for a night during this holiday and slept with her aunt, who was here for the holidays. DD was really happy and excited and looking forward for more overnights at her grandparents. Of course, she wants that as she was already getting gifts the moment she woke up in the morning. I missed her a lot as for the first time in 5 years, she wasn't with us during the evening. DH and I went to a nice Italian restaurant in Germany after leaving her with her grandparents. It was really nice as we frequent that restaurant a lot when I was pregnant.
Spring is here and that means I won't have a lot of time to do any of my felt crafts or stitching This is the time where there are a lot of activities going on - funfairs, having friends over and we going over to our friends' house, gardening, painting and windows washing. We are going to the first funfair next Saturday and followed by a grill at our friends' house the following week.
I wish everyone a great spring/summer. I hope to post a wip of my ER project very soon. (if I can find some time to stitch).

Started a new page 5 days ago that is filled with confetti stitches. Taking one stitch at a time, else I will go crazy! Most of the confetti stitches are on the bouqet of flowers and I am actually looking forward to some colours.
Made some felt cakes and chocolates as well.
This picture was taken last week. Yes, it is still snowing but for a few days, we had sunshine too. Just when the snow is melting, we had 2 days of snow again. We simply can't be bothered to shovel the snow anymore. Seems like there are quite a lot of activities going on in our garden. We have footprints of cats and maybe a hare too.

3 more rows and I am finished with this page. After that, I will proceed to stitch the rest of her face. I am a big fan of B&W but when I strarted to stitch that teeny weeny bit of colours on her chest, I was so happy to finally see some colours beside B&W.
A package arrived from Japan again this morning. Who else could it be from? Michiko, of course! She helped me to buy 2 more felt books again. I am really looking forward to make this wedding cake. A huge thank you to Michiko again. I really feel very bad as Michiko wasn't feeling well last week but still she went to the post office to get my books posted out. That same evening, she had a high fever. Thank god, she recovers quite fast from the high fever.
This is another book which Michiko bought for me. A friend of mine just bought a huge Sylvanian House for her 2 daughters for Christmas and I thought it will be great to make some accessories to add into their Sylvanian families. I used to be a Sylvanian families collector too and I had them packed in a box and put it in the basement. I think I only took it out once to let my DD played with it but I packed them quickly away again. The accessories are so small and I really don't want them to be lost somewhere among her toys.
This is 1st of the 4th which I am making for the girls this Saturday. Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I need to buy a new card for my camera as it is broken. So, I am currently using my phone to take pictures and it is not easy to take brighter pictures sometimes. It is becoming a tradition that these 2 families are coming over to our house for the Danish Fastelavn every year. DD is looking so much forward to it. I am making 4 of these for her 4 friends that day and I hope I can finish them before Saturday. Well, if someone helps me to do the housework, I might even make 10 of them within this short period ;0)
This is the dress which DD decides for this year's Fastelavn. She will celebrate it on Friday in the kindergarten and then again on Saturday. Most probably she might want to go to neighbours on Sunday too as the actual day is on Sunday. I wonder when will she finally decides to be Tinkerbell. I really love that costume so much but for the past 4 years, she always say no when I asked her what she thinks of Tinkerbell.
I received my fabrics from Sew Creative last week. They are mostly Lecien fabrics and I managed to have 1/2m of this Timeless Treasures Ballet Slippers. Sew Creative didn't put this on their site but she told me she has it when I asked her for this and the music notes. Too bad, she doesn't has the music notes.
We had a snow storm last Tuesday and an unexpected one on Wednesday. We simply don't have any place for more snow. Our snow shovel broke and all shovels are sold out everywhere. Salt are running low everywhere too.
This place is just further down our house. I went out to the local supermarket to stock up some milk and flour on Monday (a day before the storm). I thought the scenary is really lovely. The middle white area is actually the lake and it was covered with snow or ice.

Angel's Progress, Hand Dyed Fabrics For Sale & More Felt Sweets Done

My rhinestones finally arrived after so long. Lizzie from Rhinestonesonline is an extremely nice lady. She immediately sent me a replacement package when I told her I haven't got my package after 3 weeks of waiting? The very next day, I received the first package and 2 days later, I received the replacement package. I sent the 2nd one back to her yesterday and I am already writing another list of rhinestones and pearls which I need from her. I still have 1 more package from another seller. It was sent on the 4 Jan but I still haven't received it. That package contains cabochons miniatures and crochet trims.
These felt sweets are really fun and fast to make too, though it is a nightmare to tie the rounded chocolates together. I broke so many threads while tightening them. The brown one in the middle is a try-out which I put some 'chocolate sauce' on it. I wanted to buy those deco chocolate sauce which I saw on Etsy but decided to try out with a 3D liner fabric paint instead. I think they look as good as those deco chocolate sauce. I just have to practise controlling the flow of the paint.
I think making the macarons is really fun and easy too. I made 6 of them and is starting to feel comfortable making the 'whipped cream' inbetween the macrons. They will make lovely gifts for our friends' children who are mostly girls.
All the felt sweets made are from this book. It is an extremely good book for a beginner like me. I bought it over Ebay from a Japanese seller who is really helpful. She recommended me which books I should take since I am a beginner. Still, as a beginner, I have to look through the book a lot of times, trying to figure out the methods of making. Since it is in Japanese, I have to flip the book forth and back, trying to spot the same 'word' for certain accessories, descriptions and the parts to sew. If I am lucky, certain words that look like Mandarin, is easier for me but if it is just plain Japanese, I have to think so hard. I am sure by the time I am done with this book, I can read quite a lot of Japanese :0))
It is unbelievable that the snow is not stopping since before Christmas. I have no idea where to pile up the snow anymore. Today, for the first time, I shovelled the snow from the pathway outside house (it is usually my husband who is doing it). It is hard work and my arms and hands were trembling for a while. 20 mins after I cleared the pathway, it started to snow again! Waste of my time clearing the snow away from the pathway but if someone falls and breaks his/her neck at our area, we will be so dead! Even the birdbath is covered with snow.

Just finished her 2nd eye yesterday morning. This time I didn't time myself how long I took to stitch her eye. All I know is that it took me less than 2 hours :0))
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We certainly had a white Christmas this year as snow was already piling up few days before Christmas. It was really bad that we got warning not to go out unless necessary. We celebrated Christmas at my in-laws in Germany and DD received a lot of gifts from us, her grandparents and her uncles and aunts. She received one of the 3 Musketeer barbies, a camera, clothings, another Go Go add-on, toys and toys again. She was so thrilled with her new barbie and before Christmas, she kept on asking us whether Santa will bring the Pink musketeer barbie to her. As for her camera, she had been going around taking pictures all the time and loading them up onto her computer.
Stop asking this question 'what do you wish for Christmas or birthday?' if you don't intend to buy what people wish for. Not that they can't find the items but some people just love to buy what they want others to wish for. DD actually didn't receive a few things she wished for but something else. I am so glad that we bought the things she wished for the most ourselves. As for us - we received money, DVD, perfume and I got a lot of baking utensils from my in-laws. I can't wait to try them out.
We will staying at home till end of the year, though we have to attend a Christmas dinner tomorrow. During this period, I've been baking a lot at home, mostly bread and cookies while DH and DD had been playing on the Wii for hours since the snow started (nice entertainment for such weather like this). Well, we have someone who wants to stay overnight at our place on New Year's eve and I am not very fond of it. The reason : This person is already starting to talk about bringing crates of beer over that day!!!! DH was a bit shocked as he will only drink a beer and me, no drinking at all. I only invited him to come by for dinner, since he said he will alone that day and he invited himself to stay over as well. The beer thing is starting to frighten me as I don't want any drunkards in the house. So now, we are trying find an excuse not to have him over. Anyone has a good suggestion?
Remember my last post about searching for this raspberry? I was laughing out loud when Annette said she will just call it an old raspberry. After some searching, I found out that they are called Vintage Raspberry Beads. There are a couple of sellers selling them on Ebay and Etsy but I had been buying some craft items from different sellers over the week and I really want to save on shipping fees for the last few items I really need to have. If you know of just 1 seller who is selling them, please let me know. The items are :

Katerina Koukiotis just finished a commissioned portrait of a baby boy - Precious Moments. It is a stunning portrait that took my breath away when I first it. This baby boy is none other than the youngest son of my good friend, Jackie from UK.
I don't think I will be updating my blog for the rest of the year. I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!

She has an eye and it took me nearly 2 hours to finish that eye - the wonders of tenting. The last time, it took me nearly 4 hours! I remember the artist, Katerina told me that she took approx. 4 hours to draw the eye too.
I finally unpacked the Christmas stuff which I bought few weeks ago (didn't had the time to do it). My favourite is the 3 angels. 1 of them will soon go to a new home. She will be flying to USA with some boxes of chocolates to NY in USA very soon ;0)) I hope the recipient will receive it before Christmas.
Yesterday was the last lesson for DD's dancing. The school decided to stop this group as there are not enough children since September this year. Parents were allowed to sit inside the dancing room this time, since it is the last day. The instructors said some of the kids are good enough to join the older kids in the next group, if the parents want them to continue. We are not sure about it. She is not so crazy over dancing, compared to her gymnastic however, though she still does her part when it is time for her dancing lesson. We also found out that she is totally crazy over one of the dancing instructors and she wants to dance with him only and not anyone else.
One of the girls who attended DD's birthday party last week, lost a tooth. We looked through the whole house but couldn't find it. I spent 2 days cleaning up the house + emptying all the toys in the boxes and still no tooth. I really hope it will turn up one day. To make up for the disappointment, I ironed the completed Hama beads she did while at our house and put in some candies and sent the package to her. Hope she will feel better.
Christmas is just round the corner, have you done all your Christmas shopping? I think I am almost done. DD will get another Go Go Pets add-on and the pink Barbie musketeer, maybe more since the toy shop in my in-laws' town is having up to 80% sale for a lot of toys. The sale starts at 11am on Sunday and I will definitely put myself there from 10.30am! As for DH, it will be Dexter 3. I still have to search for some stuff for our niece and nephew and will do it next week in Germany.
This Sunday will be Sankt Nikolaus. Bags of goodies had been prepared for DD by her grandmum and us. It is going to be fun :0))

Approaching the challenging part very soon - Her Eye! It took me approx. 4 hours to stitch her eye last year and I am looking very much forward to see how much time will be needed this time with tenting. I am only stitching on her during the early hours in the morning while the whole family is still sleeping. I am rather pleased with the progress.
Another felt cake done. I only used an hour to complete this. I made the Strawberry Felt Cake yesterday and it took me hours. The designer Felt Cuisine is such a talented lady. For someone who doesn't know how to sew, like me, finds it really easy. The instructions and pictures are so easy to follow from her ebooks. I don't even have to buy tons of different felt colours as the colours used are not that many and still I can so many lovely felt goodies. I made them for myself but yesterday, our 5-year-old daughter wanted me to make more after she saw the pink one I did.
So, all my craftwork have to be packed away for the time being as it is DD's birthday tomorrow and I have to start baking the Fairytale Cottage cake tonight. She will celebrate her birthday in the kindergarten tomorrow and her grandfather will come by for coffee. We are throwing a birthday party for her on Saturday, inviting some friends and their kids over for coffee and dinner. Another birthday celebration for her again when her grandparents return from their holidays in France, lucky girl!! I am really excited to see whether all our guests come with the same brand of toys. I think by now, the whole world knows that she is a huge Go Go Pets fan. She will be getting Go Go stuff from us and her aunt and uncles.

I didn't want to post this until I finished the whole page - about 1500 stitches to go but to mark the 1 month anniversary, I simply have to. I started her on the 10th Oct and this is how she looks like as from this morning.
DH's 40th birthday is over and next one is our daughter who is turning 5 years old soon. She is looking forward to it a lot and we've already bought a gift for her which she doesn't know what it is yet. We are bringing her to choose another toy for herself just a few days before her birthday. As for what we bought for her.... it is something which needs lots of pumping and DH will have to do that during the night before her big day in her room.
My first try making Marmor Kuchen from scratch yesterday. It turned out well but the taste is a bit different. I am supposed to use Sunflower oil but I only have Olive oil in my cabinet. I am going to try out this weekend again as I really want to buy this Nordic Ware Fairy Tale Cottage baking pan to bake this cake since the size and height is the same as a normal Marmor Kuchen baking form. Well, I don't know any other cakes recipes which can raise that high while baking, except for this one.
As I mentioned in my last post, lots of cleaning to be done every now and then. Not only that, I have quite a few bakings to do too and I am in need of more recipes!!!

I got her done quite a bit just within 3 weeks. Lots of confetti stitches for the flowers in her hair but that didn't slow me down a bit :0)) I haven't been sleeping well lately, waking up like 3.30am to 4.30am in the morning. So, I really worked a lot on her during the early hours. I was debating whether I should start on her face after finish 2 partial pages (top of her head) and decided to start on the left hand side, at least it will keep me moving faster and looking forward to see her face.
I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that my finished HAED Sleeping Beauty was published in one of the Cross Stitch Collection magazines. Well, I finally received the prizes last week. Since I am not a metallic person, so I held a Giveaway on one of the stitching forums. Looking at the replies posted on that Giveaway thread, I didn't know Madeira floss are not easily available in USA. Congratulations to the winner - Leah from USA! For those who are interested, you can see my picture on Katerina's Fan Gallery.
Beauties arrived in my letterbox yesterday! I was so excited when I saw who it was from - Katerina Koukiotis, one of my favourite artists! This is one of her 2010 Calendars and there are so many beautiful artworks inside this calendar which I simply adore. Eternity is also in this calender. Kat drew this for her HAED fans and we love it. I had been thinking hard about this pattern when HAED charted it. I don't like to stitch men and had been wondering how and where to crop this pattern. I think the problem is solved now as I saw a smaller version of this artwork in the calender and will get HAED to do it in that size :0)) The card attached is really sweet with a personal and extremely touching message from Kat. It is actually from one of her ACEO Prints called Home for the Holidays. I've always love this little girl, though I often wonder why she has such a sad face. I hope she will be charted by HAED during Christmas time. Thank you so much for everything, Kat and for appreciating your fans so much.
I bought a sewing machine finally! I had been wanting to learn how to sew on a machine for a while but was too scared to do it. The last time I touched an old Singer machine was like 22 years ago and I was so bad at it. I stared at it for a long time when I took it home, no clue what and where to start with. Of course, the manual but everything is in German which I am not good at! I brought it with me to my in-laws yesterday and my mother-in-law showed me the very basic, putting the thread. OMG! It was like going through a maze putting the thread. In the end, I told her to leave her spool of thread intact on the machine as no way am I going to remove it and run the thread all over the machine again. I had my first try test-sewing and it is quite fun actually :0)) My husband has invited one of his programmers in Bulgaria to come to Denmark. He and his wife will be staying with us from the 14th Nov for 5 days. His wife is very good with the machine and I had been communicating with her over emails regarding sewing. She will look for some fabrics and wool mix felt for me as well as to teach me how to work on the sewing machine. Bulgaria has a huge fabric industry, so I am pretty sure they have almost everything there.

See what arrives at my 2nd mailbox? These are the stuff which had been sent to my in-laws in Germany during the week. I am still missing a Rico Design book though and I hope to get it soon.
My box of books arrived from Amazon.de. I was really excited as I couldn't wait to read this book and take a look at Kat's artwork in They Bite.
Finally, my bellpull hangers arrived. Yes, I took 2 of the same, just in different sizes. What I like about them is that they have candle holders. I want to use one of them for the birds bellpull which I want to stitch very soon, so that when my Bulgarian friend is here, she can teach me how to sew it into a bellpull.

I have this magazine and I don't understand French either but the patterns are not difficult to understand at all.
The kindergarten had a Laterne Laufe (Lantern Walking) on Thursday. The evening started with a horrible weather with lots of rain and wind. However, during the 20 mins walk with the lanterns, there wasn't any rain or wind but started again when all the kids and the parents reached the kindergarten to have some warm drinks and snacks. I couldn't take any pictures as my camera's flashlight is not good enough to be used in the dark :0(
I hope everyone had a great Halloween. It is not a tradition here in Denmark as we have our own which is in February. Still our daughter got lots of treats from her grandmum yesterday, Halloween or not.
I am going to visit my friend's newly-opened shop today. She just opened an Asian shop which is very near to our house. Can't wait to see what she has in her store. After visiting her, we might drop by at the small carnival which is in the next town.

I am very happy with the progress. I've completed 1 1/2 page, not full page though as I've got the background removed. It really feels great to be back on Ourfriendshaedsal every Thursday, posting wips along with other members.
This magazine arrived in my mailbox this morning. There are 3 patterns inside this magazine which I really like a lot. My favourite magazine ONS in Germany doesn't have this in stock and I managed to find this De Fil En Aiguille No. 52 from Violarium . Like I mentioned in my earlier post that I really want to learn how to sew on a sewing machine. I would really love to make these patterns into a bellpull and a cushion cover. Been searching on the net over the last few days looking for tutorials. I found a few but those tutorials are really not easy for someone like me who doesn't know how to sew. That means I need really baby steps to show me.

She's finally restarted :0)) I restarted her on the 10 Oct 09. She is tent on Silkweaver Iris Garden. I love to time myself each time I stitch a block of 10x10. When I was on the old Angel of Spring (see picture below), it took me 45 mins to stitch a 10x10 block without many confetti stitches (1x1) but this new start, it only took me 1 hour to tent nearly 20x20 block (2x1 tent) - where the blue flower is. I am looking very much forward to stitch her eye which took me 4 hours the last time! Tenting is so much faster.

I thought I told myself I am not going to be a turbo stitcher or at least only 1 HAED at the moment but still it is so hard to resist nice cross-stitching patterns. After seeing this on Chiloe's blog on this De fil en aiguille, I wrote to my favourite German magazine shop, Kreative-buecher, asking whether Martina whether she still has this in stock. I called her in Germany 2 days later when I didn't get a reply from her. Luckily she still had 1 copy left and I bought it immediately. I have to say, for that amount I paid for, this magazine is really good with lots of lovely flowers to choose from.
The schools had a week of Autumn holiday last week but the kindergartens were not closed. Still I took DD out from the kindergarten last Wednesday to visit her grandmum in Germany. My mother-in-law has a few of these hydrangea plants in her garden and I love how she maintains them. I wish I have 1 in my garden too but I know I can never get such large and beautiful hydrangeas like hers as I am so bad with flowers and plants. I was sure that those hydrangeas were in such rich purple colours just few months ago.
For a long while, I've been wanting to learn how to operate a sewing machine. The last time I touched one was when I was 14 years old. During those days, what we had were those with pedal and a wheel on the right hand side. I was so bad with those sewing machines. I am on the lookout for some sewing machines which are very very friendly to people who doesn't know how to use one. It is so amazing to see computerised ones and also those 1-touch button and it will do the rest for you? I want to learn how to make simple cushion covers, bellpulls and table runners, ornaments, aprons, etc. I had been searching for tutorials but my simple mind still finds those tutorials are so difficult to follow. If anyone of you knows of any very very simple tutorials for simple sewing, please leave me a message. Thank you so much in advance.

Love Gitte Schou Hansen's books as the ornaments are really very lovely and easy to make. I bought some of these magazines from Germany too but they are not as good as the Danish ones. I find the templates in those German magazines too confusing - templates' drawings overlaping on one another.
