I've been stitching nothing else but her for the last 2 days. I can't wait to join her strands of hair to make her look more complete. DH stared at her yesterday and said 'she is done soon, isn't she?' I laughed as that reminds me of Chiloe's comments who asked me the same question. I told him very soon. He said it looks really nice and he too, thinks that she looks our DD - the hair and the sharp chin. This is the first time that he comments on my Sleeping Beauty. He is not interested with my cross stitching, same like how 'interested' I am with his servers, programming and websites.

A big Thank You to Annette who posted on the HAED BB on how to add your name to your works. I hope what I've written is correct. If there's any mistakes, please let me know. People are stealing others' finished HAED works and send them in just to get a free chart. It is really frustrating to know that some people are claiming your hardwork as their own. It is a good thing that HAED decides to stop this Reward Program to prevent all these unnecessary abuse. Such abuse is not only hurting B&M but also to stitchers who spent months and years working on their HAEDs.

I am going to put my Permin Christmas in Town away as I really don't have the mood to stitch on that. Filling in the holes with white is really boring! As I stitched, I kept on thinking whether I should restart it on a white piece of fabric to save all the trouble. Anyway, just bought 2 Lanarte kits and will start on one of them as soon as it arrives. I still haven't decide which hand dyed fabric to use as I couldn't get the 3 Solos on Silkweaver's site 2 weeks ago. WEll, I did get it but my browser shut down the moment I got them into my cart. Still looking for some nice Solos but the last 2 Solos listing are all small cuts. I've also ordered mini spools from HDF for my Permin Aero and Aqua but I haven't order the fabric for it. I did it on purpose, so that it will take a longer time for me to start if I don't have all the materials ready.

Yesterday was just not my day. Our fridge had been making real loud rambling noises for a few days and DH suspects that there could be ice in the ventilator. It shouldn't be as it is a non-freeze fridge. We moved the stuff into our backup fridge in the basement. I spent so many hours searching for the manual and I couldn't find it. Found it online but it is only in German, so DH had to read. When the door of the fridge is opened for a while, it will gives out signal. So, the signal was really going on my nerves the whole day as we had to leave it opened so that the ice can melt. We can't shut down the whole fridge as our freezer will be shut down too.

I went to the library to get a huge Lanarte chart photocopied as a working copy. I had to stand in the queue for like 15 mins as the librarian was busy with someone. Then, a young teenage girl came towards the queue and slowly moved in front of me. I was really pissed! She even gave me a haughty look. When the librarian was finished, the teenage girl went up to her and I told them it should be my turn as she came after me. I've been a teenage before, so back off! I was supposed to pay for the copies and they don't accept Dankort! What kind of library is that? The library in my previous town accepts Dankort. She asked whether I could go and draw some money, come back and pay for them. I told her I don't have the time for that, besides that my DD and DH had been waiting for me in the car like forever. I told her I will come back with cash the next day. After such a bad day, I decided not to cook and told DH to go to McDrive. On the way, there was a car accident and the whole street was jammed. AT that moment, I just want to go home and stay under the blanket.

What's next?

Warm warm weather. We have had 17 degree and today up to 20 degree. However, the wind is really strong. DD was at the doctor yesterday for a test to see whether she is allergic to pollen. He prescribed some eye drops for her watery eyes and if it doesn't helps, we have to go for the nose drops and if not, she will go for some tests and will get some medications. He said her allergy is very very mild as she doesn't has asthma. DH is starting to sneeze a lot today too as he is allergic to dry grasses.

As I mentioned in my previous post, DD is involved in the kindergarten's flea market. Today, I managed to find more toys in the attic. It was quite a disappointment today. None of the kids in the kindergarten were there to set up a stand to sell their toys. Most of them were the kids from the school next door. I think it was boring for her as she doesn't know any of the older kids there until she recognised one of the mums there. She is the mum of a kid from the same kindergarten and DD bought the huge bag of legos from her. DD sold a soft toy and 3 of her Winnie the Pooh frames. Here she is, munching on her popcorns. Things got better when her grandparents came and her grandmum put some money in her 'money box'. We left after 1 hour as my mother in law just recovered from a lung infection and it is not good for her to sit there when the wind is so strong. Mother in law said there will be a flea market at her neighbourhood and she would like DD to sell the rest of her toys there.

Next week, we are going to my inlaws as the Funpark will be situated at the town where they are living. They want to bring DD to the funpark for some rides. Next Sunday, we are joining the Forest Day. It will be a walk in the forest and other activities. So, tell me, how do we get stitching done during summer? Too many happenings and gardening to be done during summer.

We went over to Germany for dinner today. This is the harbour whereby they have lots of activities or funfairs during summer. We went to a very typical German restaurant just opposite the harbour. Since this is the season for fresh asparagus, I ordered fresh asparagus with potatoes and smoked ham. There were like 5 to 6 huge fresh asparagus and after eating the 3rd one, I felt like throwing up. It was just too much for me.

I just created another blog and that is my shopping/wishing list. I thought it would be easier for friends or any other people who come by my blog to see the list. Hoping they know where I can get them at reasonable prices or used.

Her hair is growing :0)) She is an addict as I simply couldn't put her down. I only have to put in a few more stitches to finish off the last block but I simply don't have the time the whole day.

Marie asked me whether I've started on Sandra K's Cherished Moments. It will take a while before I start on that one. I have the sudden urge to start on a new non-haed project. The Permin Christmas in Town is starting to bore me out. I am stitching whites to fill in the blues. I can't really start on a new project right now as I don't have the right fabric and floss. That is why I am taking such a long time to order all the necessary materials to start on something new. Like this, I have no choice but to continue with what I am stitching.

I spent 1 1/2 hr in the garden getting rid of weeds and digging out all the roses at the back of the house. While pulling weeds, some of the flowers are really getting into my way and I digged them all out too. The birds are so happy and they were crowding around me as I threw the worms to them each time I find them.

I was in the post office to buy a postcard. A lady in USA requested for postcards to be sent to her 10-year old daughter. I am going to get a postcard tomorrow in Germany. I sent out the Danish postcard today and tomorrow will be a postcard from Germany. Guess which one will reach her first?

DD will have to go for a test tomorrow at the doctor to see what type of pollen she is allergic to (if she is allergic to pollen). For a couple of days, her face was flushed, nose running and watery eyes. At first I thought she is getting the flu again but DH said she could be allergic to some pollen and he is allergic to grass.

7 full pages completed!!! I put in the last stitch for the 7th page yesterday morning. I didn't post it as I want to post it today on ourfriendshaedsal today. That means it is time to post our HAED wips. I am going to start on page 8 very soon which is the last full page. After that, there are 4 partial pages. I am excited and a bit sad?...at the same time, knowing that she will soon be done. I really enjoy stitching her so much.

My cross stitch leaflet arrived from Korea last Saturday but the postman was too impatient to wait for me to open the door and threw the registered mail card in my letterbox. I ran out to chase after him. I think he is either David Copperfield or he has wings as he was gone so fast! I collected the registered package from the local post office on Tuesday. I am very happy with the leaflet, though I am not so excited that 91 colours are used for this pattern.

I stitched a bit on my Permin Christmas In Town. For a moment, I thought maybe I should just use a white opal evenweave fabric instead. I realised that I have to stitch in whites to cover the blue hand dyed fabric, so that it looks like snow. I emailed Permin in Denmark regarding a symbol which I simply couldn't figure out. We had mails bouncing forth and back as she confused me with a wrong dmc colour. Well, seems like everything is settled regarding that weird symbol on the chart. I still don't agree with her clarifications but I will go with what she told me.

The whole area here didn't had water yesterday morning. All of us received a note saying that water will be shut down from 10am till works are completed. They turned off the water at 8am!! My neighbours were walking around and complaining, saying aren't they shutting down the water a bit too early and giving the note a bit too late (we only received the note while we were all snoring). I felt so miserable yesterday till 12pm as I simply couldn't do anything without having my morning shower first. I didn't even dare to do any gardening at the back of the house, no way am I going to step out of the house without a shower.

DD is involved in the kindergarten's flea market next Saturday. I am in the middle of packing all her old toys, so she can do her selling business. After a week of packing her old toys, I only managed to find 3 jigsaw puzzles which I am willing to part with. Honestly, I simply can't bare to part with her old stuff. DH often says I am a bit over to the top as I am keeping all her stuff, even all her milk bottles. I am going to try finding more stuff again later, let's hope I won't clutch onto her old toys and not wanting them to go :0)))

It was rushing day for me yesterday morning. I had to pack some cold food for DD, tidying up, cleaning up her bedsheets (she pee in the bed the night before). I wanted to visit one of my neighbours with a pot of flower the day before but I couldn't make it as I was working in the garden the whole afternoon. So, I rushed to Åse's house 1 hour just before we had to leave as I know she would make me sit there with her for at least 20 mins. Åse is an old lady who lost her husband 2 years ago and very often she tells me how much she misses him. She only has 5% of eyesight left but this is one lady whom I have so much of admiration and respect for. She is living on her own and she walks to the nearby supermarket to buy stuff all by herself. Her kids visit her once a week but not when they have to go on holidays. She just had a fall few weeks ago during the night, knocked her head against the cabinet and fell onto the floor. There was a lot of blood and the ambulance came. 1 weeks later, she is up on her feet, taking a walk under the rain to the supermarket and she loves it. She cooks meals for herself and even put up some Easter decorations on her table, all just by feeling them with her fingers. She is one great lady with a great sense of humour too.

We went to my in-laws at around 11am and all of us drove off to a local restaurant in Germany. I packed some cold food for DD as I know she is not into warm food during daytime. Luckily, the restaurant has some bread as side dish and I asked for butter. So, she ate 5 small pieces of bread with butter + some cucumbers for lunch. I am not so much into warm food during daytime either, so I had Scampi with lots of salad. We went back to my in-laws after lunch and my sister in law entertained our DD while we started to put the gifts and chocolates in the garden. She had such a good time searching for them and I killed 1 chocolate bunny by stepping onto it. How would I know DH would put some chocolates on the grass. I was too busy running after DD with my camera, that is why I didn't see what were on the grass.

The wheel barrow is one the gifts from her grandparents. She got so many chocolates and gifts from her grandparents. See the little red basket there? That had been with her since she was a year old just for Egg Hunting each year. We had coffee and Easter Bunny Chocolate Cake. She is so thrill with her Hi-5 Dance Hits Volumes. We watched a bit of the DVDs today in her room as the weather is too nice to stay indoors. I really appreciate the help of these 2 really lovely Aussie ladies who helped me to get this set of Hi-5 DVDs for her. None of them are telling me how much the total price + shipping is. So, I sent them chocolates and some very danish stuff :0)))

During the Easter holidays, our neighbour just across our house took down most of the trees. He said he hasn't been doing that for a few years. That is really great for us as we have a much better view to the lake now. Saw those tree trunks lying there? He started cutting them down at around 9am and it was done at around 2pm. He left 2 standing there just for some shade over his terrace. To show our appreciation, DH bought him a good bottle of whiskey :0))
Today is the last day of Easter holidays for DD and she is going back to the kindergarten tomorrow. I have so many things to do - cleaning, more gardening and more unpacking and packing of boxes. We planted some flowers and spices in the garden too. Hope they turn out well as this is my first time growing stuff.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

I've been spending the last 1 week working on her. I didn't have much time to stitch since last Friday as DD started her Easter Holidays till next Monday. I still have approx. 1500 stitches left and then I am done with 1 more full page. Going to post her on the HAED SAL Blog as it is our Thursday SAL!!!

Since it is a public holiday in Denmark today, we spent half a day in Germany doing some shopping. DH hates crowds, so we had to leave as early as possible as we know there will be a lot of Danes in Germany today. We bought 3 full sacks of sand to refill DD's sandcastle. I just wish she can stop throwing the sand out onto the grass. Then again, kids love to do what they are told not to. We have warm weather till Easter, so it is time to work in the garden. We have a big garden and it is really frustration to work in such a huge garden. It took me few days to pull out the weeds at the front area and then continue with another area at the back of the house. When it was done, weeds start to grow at the front area. Seems like my duty for every summer is running around to get rid of the weeds. You can call me the Weed Buster ;0)

I wish everyone a great Easter!

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

This is where we spent our last Sunday and also spent a lot of €€€ inside there. It had been a while since we went to such a funpark. This 'Tivoli' is only in Germany for 9 days (until Easter). The weather was really great that day, though a bit of chilly.

DH and DD went into this haunted house. I refused to get in with them. Well, she wasn't that fond of the haunted house and only told us in the evening that it wasn't that fun and she didn't like it.

Both of them took this Dragon roller coaster ride. It was really scary as I thought it is going really fast, that is why I didn't take this ride again with them, I am such a chicken but DD was yelling them to go faster.

This was my first ride with DD that day. I thought 'Baby Flug', how fast and high can that be as it means Baby Flight. OMG!!! It went up so high that I thought I will die. I've always been afraid of heights. DD was so excited and thought of herself as Little Einsteins (the cartoon series whereby they are in the spaceship). She kept on shouting 'higher!!!' I nearly pee in my pants while up there and DH had to hold me to steady me when the flight finally came to a stop - thought it will never stop!

No idea what kind of flight this is but DD had 3 rides on that as she was so thrilled to be up there all the time. Guess she loves to be swinged around.

I thought this is a very nice, slow and steady ride but she frowned and said 'boring!'

We have all these candies stores there.

Last but not least, we had our burglar alarm + sensors + gas alarms installed in the whole house. We really don't want to take the risk after one of our neighbours' house got broken into. Since we moved into here for more than a year, I think that is the 4th house that got broken into. At least with the burglar alarm, we don't have to worry staying out late each time we are out. DH can travel to Bulgaria for business leaving us at home too and not worrying for both us.

Easter holidays started last Friday until next Monday. It is a holiday in Denmark tomorrow but not in Germany, so we are going there to do some shopping. On Sunday, we will be doing the 'egg hunting' at my in-laws, as well as lunch in a restaurant. Initial plan was buffet as brunch serving warm and cold food. In-laws changed the plans by just having warm food in a restaurant. I will have to pack some cold food for DD as she is not into warm food for lunch. Well, me neither.

I haven't been doing much stitching since DD started her holidays, except during the wee hours in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening on Sleeping Beauty as I wanted so much to finish my book - Ken Follett World Without End. I finished it yesterday evening and it is such a good book like his Pillars of the Earth. Wonder how long I should wait before he comes out with the next one.

I am so much into ballerinas these days. I won 2 Lanarte used charts on ebay - Ballet Girl and Ballet & Music. Hopefully I can find some time to start on Ballet Girl with my friend who started hers since Christmas. As for Imagen, I had been hunting for that one for more than a year. I wrote to the Korean firm, asking them how do I order their leaflets online and to a few other Korea ONS but no replies from them. Even the artist Jose Royo didn't reply my mail when I asked which companies has the licence to chart his artworks into cross stitch. I wrote to so many cross stitch shops like Odds & Ins, Cross Stitch Pattern Gallery, Celtic Rose Designs, etc and even put up a request on HAED, hoping they can get his artworks charted. Finally, I managed to get the help of a Korean who ordered the leaflet for me. Just found out that there are 91 colours for this pattern!!!

What a lovely morning to wake up to. I received a great comment and an award from one of my favourite artists Katerina Koukiotis . Seems like I have to name 7 things I love and then pass this award on to 7 other bloggers. The problem is that I don't have so many bloggers to give, lol!! All of them deserve this award but seems like all of them already have this award.

I will pass this on to Our Friends HAED SAL . This blog was started by Cindy F. and Wendy. Through this blog, I found lots of beautiful HAED WIPs and kind comments from other HAED Stitchers. That is one blog that rules :0))

7 things I love

My stitching
Reading
Getting involved in all my DD's activities in the kindergarten
Not having to work in the garden during winter
Having friends and their families over for parties (children's parties)
Baking (though I am not very good at it but I am trying)
Danish Traditions

Here is my Permin Christmas in Town. I put in the word TOYS this morning right after I received 2 cards of Rainbow Gallery PTB floss from a friend in USA. I replaced the PB03 to PB45 Christmas Petite Treasure Braid. At least now the word TOYS looks darker than when it was stitched with PB03. I will change some of the PB03 at the Bakery to the new colour too.

Postman is sure early today, especially on a Monday. I received 2 packages in my mailbox. It is a set of Hi-5 DVDs Dance Hits with 3 volumes. DD loves the Australian Hi-5 a lot and she loves to dance to their songs too. So, I got the help of a very nice Australian lady to get them for me as I want the DVDs to be part of her 'egg hunting' during Easter at her grandparents' house. She also enclosed some chocolates in the package. That is so sweet of her. I can't wait to see DD's reaction when she find them during her 'egg hunting' . The last time when she received the Hi-5 CD, she was so excited and was showing her aunt, uncles and grandparents the CD.

This is another package I received today. Chinese 100% silk floss. Quite a disappointment. If you are a HDF fan, don't go for these type of Chinese silk floss. According to a good friend of mine in Oz, she said there are different types of Chinese silk floss and some of them are really good, so I just have to keep on finding the right ones. This small motif was stitched with DMC floss a couple of weeks back. I decided to try out with Chinese silk floss. What is so disappointing is that these Chinese silk floss is not so smooth like HDF silk. I took a picture of 2 different silk. The top one is HDF silk and the bottom one is the Chinese silk floss. If you look at the Chinese silk floss at the bottom, a strand seems seems so fuzzy and also they stick onto my fingers like mad. HDF silk is really smooth and no fuzziness at all. Luckily I only ordered 11 skeins of them to try out. I did a test stitch. It frays so much and even worse when I tried some frogging. I can't see any sheen in them when they frays so much. Not even DMC floss frays that much.

Here is Sleeping Beauty who is still sleeping :0)) I haven't been stitching on her a lot for the last 2 weeks as I am rotating 2 projects weekly but still it is Sleeping Beauty which I am more focussed on. I am stitching on the left side of her head now and hoping to see more of her hair very soon. I am ready to post her on Our Friends HAED SAL today as it is our Thursday SAL. I didn't post a progress last Thursday as there wasn't much to show. I really enjoy being on this Thursday SAL as the blog is so encouranging and there's great communications between all the stitchers PLUS lots of amazing wips to drool over :0))

Last Saturday was DD's performance with her gym mates Here, they were waiting for their turn to perform. After this performance, her gym activities will end until the next season. We are not sure whether we want to put her in the gym again. It is good for her and she loves anything that has to do with movements. We just want her to try everything and decide what she likes best. As for the Handball team, she can only join when she turns 5 1/2 year old.
