The twins were dropped off at our house by their parents at 9.30am and the parents left for Germany. We had fruits at 10.15, followed by lunch at 12pm. The 3 girls were so anxious to put the table up and we actually did it 1 hour before the rest of the guests arrived. Took a picture of the Fastelavn Boller were baked by the twin's mum. Too bad I didn't take a picture of the cake which the other family brought along. We had 5 girls dressed up as a Minnie Mouse, Rapunzel, Belle, Pippi and Cinderella. DH was dressed up as a pirate+jester. 'Nice' combination.

See all the tapes around the barrel? The men had to tape the barrel as it broke from the rope which was hanging onto onto it. Pippi was the best this year. We were really surprised to see how strong she was last Saturday. She wasn't really that strong last year. She was 5 years old then. Last year, the barrel won't be broken without the strength of the twins and this year, it was Pippi who hit the hardest all the time. We suspect that the parents had been training her just for this occasion. We have to start training our DD soon.
Our initial plan was to have French hotdogs for dinner but changed to hotdogs instead. Chiloe from France said she had never heard of French hotdogs before. So, this is the Fransk Hotdog in Denmark.

Sorry about the dark video. The main light in the room wasn't working at that time. Hope you can see something.

These are all the stuff prepared for tomorrow's Fastelavn party. We are using the Fastelavnsris made by DD in the kindergarten today. DH and her went to prepare the goodies barrel while I cleaned the living area up a bit. I had to remind them constantly not to throw all the sweets into the barrel. Last year, I could see our friends' eyes nearly popping out when they saw the amount of sweets and chocolates inside after the barrel was smashed. Well, we gave the task to DD last year and went off to do other preparations for the party. So, she was happily opening all the huge packages of sweets and chocolates and threw everything into the barrel.

DH gave me a report this morning after he came home from sending DD to the kindergarten. He said EVERY girls there were princesses, except her who was Minnie Mouse. My heart sank and thought of the worst. I thought she might feel like an outsider or weird as she didn't dress up as a princess. Well, he said she wasn't even a bit sad and she was beaming with joy and smiling when she saw that she was the only Minnie Mouse there! All the other princesses kids went up to her and asked whether they could look and touch her dress :0)))

One of the families we invited, will put their twin girls at our house 5 hours before the party starts. They need to drive over to Germany to get some materials for their house building. So, DD's good friends - The Twins will be here at 9.30am onwards while the rest will arrive at 2.30pm. Some people might think it will be stressful for me to have 3 kids running around in the house. Actually, it is not at all. I've had the twins over rather often and I could actually wash the windows while they play together. They always tell me not to worry about them and I may go and do my own stuff. The only time they come to me is when they need help in the toilet or to open up some stuff.

So, it will be a long long day tomorrow as all guests are staying for dinner too. French Hotdogs is tomorrow's menu.

It turned out that I went for shopping in Germany alone yesterday. My friend and her 5 year old boy are both down with a flu and a fever. I took the bus into the city and browsed through all the bookshops for some English cross stitching magazines - NONE!! Not even German ones and even if they have, they are a mixture of patchwork, crochet, knitting and a bit of stitching charts in the magazine. Guess I have to order the magazines from Origin Publishing then. Anyway, received an email from Origin Publishing, saying that the price for the magazines include shipping cost to Denmark. That is a great deal! I did, however bought something from the bookshop and it is Ken Follett World Without End. I was rather suprised to see the English book in paperback out in the German bookshops that fast. Germany and Denmark is still having their own version in hard cover. I was really happy and bought the book immediately as I've read Pillars of the Earth many years ago and love it.

I went to the BR to search for a Fastelavn (the Danish Halloween) costume for DD. She wants to be Minnie Mouse this year. The price is the same as in Denmark but still it is nearer to drive over the border instead of going back to my old town to get the costume for her. We intend to bring her to BR in Germany tomorrow and let her decide what she wants. I just hope it is not one of the Disney Princessess she wants to be. I know for sure there will be like 10 kids in her kindergarten dressed up as one of the Disney Princesses.

Minnie Mouse Costume

Glo-E Princess Dress with Lights.

When this dress first came out last year. It cost like DKK375. I wanted to get it for her last year but didn't as I think it is too much to pay for a costume that she would only wear twice during Fastelavn. I just checked the shop and this year, the dress had been reduced to DKK150! I wonder whether the dress will be heavy as it needs 3 E batteries and there are 7 different lights changing on the dress. I do like the Tinkerbell costume too... So, let's see what she will choose as a costume tommorow.

We've invited 2 families over for Fastelavn party on the 21st Feb and the kindergarten will celebrate on the 20th Feb. Our friends are invited over for coffee and they are requested to bring something for coffee. Afterwhich, it will be hotdogs for dinner.

Received an sms from a long time friend. I taught him Mandarin during my pregnancy and lessons were stopped just before I gave birth. He contacted me few times and asked whether I am still interested at giving him Mandarin lessons. We never come to compromise as I couldn't teach him during evenings. He sent an sms this noon, saying he has to go to China very soon again and really wants to refresh his Mandarin. I told him he has to come to my house for lessons and I can do it during the evenings. We finally come to a compromise and he only wants 4 hours and he will give DKK2000 plus taxes. His first lesson will start next Thursday and I hope I can still find all my materials which I used years ago.
